January has been long and dark and at times tedious and gloomy; but there have been moments of fun, happiness and enjoyable moments. There's been laughs, achievements, lovely sunrises, sunsets, glistening snow and sunshine. I've baked bread, cooked that bit fancier dinners, played games, walked a lot and ran! As January comes to an end, it made me think about the year to come. I'm the type of person that embraces life, wants to do lots of things, keen to keep busy, plan the next trip or social engagement. Well of course I can't do any of this. No plans, no trips, no socialising. As a person who thinks keeping busy, socialising and filling their life with fun things to do is the key element to living, slowing down, putting a hold on plans, holidays, events has been interesting!! It's taught me that just being with each other can be just as rewarding, just playing a game with your kids is just as satisfying as getting out, baking bread is an achievement! Taking small achievements, acknowledging small moments is the key element to living! Conversations, connections with people is the key, not whether you're doing things, but listening and being with person, whether that's in person, on zoom or phone is the key. Of course I'd love things to go back to some sort of normality and can't wait to meet friends and family in person; but its a recognition that those connections with people are the most important thing in the world, that's what living and being human is all about.
