Appreciate non-injury

When you've had an injury you really appreciate what it feels like to run without injury. Not having to think about every step, not being cautious when putting one foot in front of the other! You feel carefree, not thinking about running. An injury sets you back mentally and physically. I'm over cautious about the running now, cautious about each step, will I slip, will I pull a muscle, will I make it worse? Putting doubts in my head as to whether I can do a few miles today! You talk yourself out of it. I've come to recognise the need for rest when my body needs it; but I can also push myself gently, run slowly and gently when able to, don't talk myself out of it or be scared. Sometimes moving gently helps recovery and certainly helps my wellbeing! Positive language about an injury and positive language about doing what you can do and not what you can't do goes a long way.
